Well, it's easy, REALLY! In science, I encourage students to learn how to research on their own. Sure I give the occasional extra credit worksheet, but when it comes to learning, students have to seek it out on their own information. Students are allowed to turn in 2 summaries a week from any reputable source. For each summary, students are required to write a minimum of 1/2 a page summarizing an article they read. They can read the article online or in a magazine or journal. Students must (informally) cite their source on the bottom or back of their summary. Again, it is important to get their information from a reputable source, such as discovery.com, BBC, National Geographic, or any other educational cite or institution. Summaries from non-reputable sources will not be accepted. These can include (but not limited to) WebMD.com, Wikipedia.com, etc. When in doubt, ask first, and remember, any article summary not cited will not be accepted for extra credit.
PLAGARISM: Any student found to be plagiarizing their summary will no longer be allowed to turn in extra credit summaries.
